Employees Teach Elementary Students about Architecture

Catherine Dekkenga, Adam Scholes and Lauren Deshler spent some time last week at Freedom Elementary, teaching a class of fifth graders about the field of architecture. The students looked at floor plans of their school, learned about scale, designed a dog house, and got to see a virtual sneak peak of Harrisburg's next elementary school on the Oculus Rift. Their teacher said they cannot wait for us to come back - the feeling is definitely mutual!

"It's such a rewarding experience," Catherine Dekkenga said. "The students love the virtual reality, and really seem to grasp what we are trying to teach them about design and scale."

Various employees have been giving back by visiting classrooms for a number of years. It is an activity that our firm looks forward to continuing into the future as well.
