Summer Interior Design Intern

Architecture Incorporated, with offices in Sioux Falls and Rapid City, is the largest architectural / interior design firm in South Dakota. We are looking for someone who is creative, has a passion for design, and a great work ethic to join our firm this summer as an Interior Design Intern. The intern will be supervised and provide support for our four interior designers. The internship will begin May 16 and end August 12.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Organization, sample ordering, and general upkeep of the Materials Library
  • Develop Project-Specific Standards – Materials in Library
    • Review standard finishes and order as necessary to have adequate on-hand samples
  • Project Assistance
    • Presentation Documents with direction from Designers
    • Project / Material Research & Selection Assistance
    • Material Boards
    • Close-Out Binders
  • Meetings Assistance
    • Assist with documentation during meetings for Revit updates
    • Meeting minute assistance with direction from Designers
  • Drafting with direction from Designers
  • Rendering with direction from Designers
  • Update Interior Design Contacts
  • Project Close-Out
    • File materials in bins after project completion
  • Attending meetings and site visits with Team
  • Attending product manufactures representative meetings with Designers
  • Completing Material and Finish Schedules

Requirements:

The position requires someone who can effectively juggle a variety of responsibilities, with a strong emphasis on organization and follow-up skills. It also requires an ability to collaborate in a team environment and work independently with supervision from our interior design staff. This individual must possess good interpersonal skills (listening, diplomacy, responsiveness) and should be able to communicate professionally with the design team, clients, contractors, and consultants. The ideal individual should be detail-oriented, self-motivated, and have a professional work ethic. This person must be capable of independent thinking and possess creative design abilities.

Education:

Junior or Senior Interior Design Student at an accredited institution

Experience:

Experience using Revit, Sketchup, Enscape, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, Bluebeam or similar software preferred
